ÖZ ORMAN-İŞ UPDATED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH HUNGARY FORESTRY and WOOD INDUSTRY WORKERS UNION (EFDSZ)

With the participation of Settar Aslan ;President of Öz Orman-İş and  Ramazan Gün; General Education Secretary of Öz  Orman-İş ,they congratulated the new president of EFDSZ ; Dr. Janos  Halmagyi.

Regarding the meeting;  Öz Orman-İş and EFDSZ updated and revised the Memorandum of Understanding with the existing cooperation  adding  following items;

  • Contributing to establish strong relations among trade unions ,states and people based on mutual benefits
  • Implementing joint national regional and international activities such as conferences, workshops and campaigns for labor rights protection and promote decent work
  • Caring fort he environment ,combating climate change ,desertification and protecting land ecosystems.

As it is well known; Global Environment Facility (GEF) was established on the eve of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit to help tackle the  planet’s most pressing environmental problems.  So it is crucial Implementing new strategies and policies with the contribution of private sector, and civil society organizations.

Within the scope of this aim and as being a  member country to GEF, the contributions of Öz Orman-İş has been discussed as a civil society organization. In this regard it was decided from Öz Orman-iş  to participate the GEF meeting which will take place at Hungary in the forthcoming year.

Mr. Aslan delivered a speech regarding forestry workers and their problems adding collective bargains and trade union activities. The meeting continued in the scope of sharing  unionism experiences.

There had been carried out a field trip from EFDSZ and Öz Orman-İş delegation visited Manor province and met with local forest represantatives.

Mr. Settar Aslan held a visit to Turkish  Embassy at Budapest on 5 th of December 2019 and  he discussed following issues  with the Ambassador; Mr. Ahmet Akif Oktay,

  • Turkey-Hungary relations.
  • The potential projects and ccoperation opportunities of both countries.

Öz Orman-İş international activities and bileteral relations.
