United Nations Convention Combating Desertification (UNCCD)  which will be held on 12-23 October 2015, gave start on 11 October with the participants of civil society representatives related the concept of the conference and the methods of working.

Organised by TEMA Foundation, NGO and Civil Society Liaison Officer Marcos Montoiro and other representatives  have addressed the processes of the meetings of UNCCD and the agenda items of COP 12. The CSO working group leaders have been assigned and launced the group workings.

Meanwhile, at the opening of the meeting, a minute of silence respected for our citizens who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Ankara.

Participating the opening meeting of CSO’s, President of Öz Orman-İş Settar Aslan, has thanked Marcos Montoiro and other CSO partners for the condolences for the citizens who lost their life and added the precision for Desertification in Turkey with the labourers of our members combating for land degradation. As a trade union Öz Orman-İş shows great sensitivity to all the issues related environment and climate problems and volunteer for all the practises of UNCCD as a civil society organisation.

Öz Orman-İş will hold a side event meeting issued THE ROLE OF TRADE UNIONS IN COMBATING DESERTIFICATION on 13 October 2013 between 10.00-13.00 in the afternoon, Öz Orman-İş will also conduct a meeting issued ‘The Role of  CSO’S and Employment'.
