YOUNG FORESTERS RETURNED THEIR COUNTRY WITH ''COURAGE AWARD''

The competition, in which 120 participants from around the world, including those from Turkey attended in, was held in Moscow from 17– 21 September, 2018. In such competition where the main theme was adopted as the nature, ecological environment, preservation of wildlife and sustainable forestry economy, Turkey was represented by Esin Er and Tolga Yanbaz, the students of Faculty of Forestry of Kastamonu University though the arrangement of Öz Orman-İş and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük. In the competition where Turkey took part for the first time, Turkish students competed with their project entitled “Prevention of Forest Fires” and “Wildlife”.

The jury of the competition is comprised of administrative officials from Ministries of Forestry and Environment of Slovenia, Belarus, South Korea, Norway and Russian Federation and the award ceremony washeld on the 20th of September, 2018.

The grand prize of the competition went to a university student from the Republic of South Africa second and third prizes went to students participating from Russian Federation. The Turkish students were honoured with the “Courage Award”.

Öz Orman-İş Leader, Settar Aslan who gave the awards of Turkish Students stated in his speech that “Öz Orman-İş, the largest union in the agricultural and forestry sector pays  a special sensitivity to nature and environment. Therefore, we could not have remained unresponsive to such a competition held in Russian Federation and wholeheartedly supported our students, reminding them of the first-ever participation of Turkey in the competition.

Settar Aslan, in his speech, congratulated Mr. Ivan Valentik, the Chair of Russian Federal Forestry Agency which organized the event.

The competition schedule ended with a cultural excursion within Moscow.

Meanwhile, Öz Orman-İş Leader, Settar Aslan visited Mr. Cenk Uraz, the Undersecretary of Turkish Embassy of Moscow. During the conversation, They touched upon Turkey-Russian Federation relations, cooperation prospects, and projects between the Non-governmental Organizations of the two countries.
