7th Congress of General Assembly of NOTU was being made on 7-11 december, 2013 in Kampala. President Settar Aslan and Secretary General, Bayram Ayaz attended as the represantative of Hak-İş Confederation.

At theassembly, President Aslan made a speech about the increased position of capitalism and its effects to the labour. We live the negative reflections onour labourers as low price manpower, unorganised labour and undeclared work. Our objection is not for the capital investments, indeed we beleive in the fair sharement. He also paid attention to the disorganization and added:

“Especially since 1985 trade unionism in Africa, Asia and South America experienced a serious regression. According to ILO, trade unionism rates are between 10-17 percent.

We need to unite our power in global level so as to protect and develop the rights of the labour as labour represantatives. As the represantative of my confederation Hak-İş, we are developing our bileteral relations with the developed and developing countries.

While our relations are being increased with NOTU and Hak-İş, Öz Orman İş trade union is about to start its bileteral relations.”

International Relations expert Benül Topuzoğlu, made a speech in NOTU Women Commitee meeting and indicated the importance of women active role in sivil society organisations and supported the women that serve several levels of position in confederation.

President Settar Aslan, celebrated Oewere Usher Wilson reelection at the General Assembly of NOTU and gave an Öz Orman-İş marked pocket watch. Aslan also had a conversation with Labour Ministerof Uganda, Rukatana Mwesigwa, indicating the importance of improving social dialogue and close relations with sivil society organisations.

Öz Orman-İş delegates also visited Agriculture Workers Union NUPAWU and had a meeting with president Joram B.Pajobo. The problems faced by agriculture labourers of Uganda and the mutual experiences between two unions had been discussed. Bileteral cooperations willbe a subject in the next future.

Öz Orman-İş delegates made a visit to Kampala Turkish Ambassador, Ayşe Sedef Yavuzalp.
